Chesterfield College Masterplan, Chesterfield
A master plan to guide redevelopment of the college’s Infirmary Road Campus in Chesterfield, the plan illustrates the major commitment by the College to revitalise its existing campus to support the continuing success and achievements by staff and students.
The key design objective is to create a unified, inclusive campus for Chesterfield College. The design process has included extensive consultations with the college and we have supported the college by assisting in its funding applications.
The proposals focus on creation of clearly identified key entrance and exit points for the site, the construction of a new gateway building, Engineering & Construction Facility, along with the introduction of a central landscaped boulevard as an external social heart which unites the campus whilst successfully segregating pedestrian and vehicular movement.
The masterplan redevelopment also includes extensive internal refurbishment to increase space allocation efficiency within the college. The existing landmark tower block is earmarked for an external upgrade to provide an enhanced aesthetic and environmentally improved teaching facility.
