Coopers Square, Burton on Trent
The Coopers Square Shopping Centre, formerly Burton Shopping Centre, is the retail heart of the historic brewing town of Burton Upon Trent. Existing shops were retained but a new roof covering and total interior refurbishment was carried out. American oak trusses carry the lightweight, partially-glazed roof that facilitates an attractive combination of natural and controlled lighting. Under-clad canopies are filled with sound-deadening material.
New entrances were built to create a striking impression from the surrounding shopping streets. Materials used included large format ceramic tiling to repave the malls, American oak window reveals, specialist metalwork, signage and light fittings.
