General Hospital, Nottingham

A four hectare development in central Nottingham, the former General Hospital became surplus to requirements when services were moved to the Queen's Medical Centre and the City Hospital. Solving the problems of the site was an essential prerequisite to its successful sale. We identified the fundamental problem as the Trent Wing, an 11-storey 1970s built block that blighted the centre of the site.

The visionary plan secured £1m of European funding that proved the catalyst for a multi-faceted project involving conservation, urban regeneration and refurbishment of a collection of sophisticated buildings.
