This was a major redevelopment by Simons Estates of the Grade II listed former Pearson Brothers department store in the centre of Nottingham. Our brief was to conserve the listed building elements along the Angel Row frontage whilst stitching a new retail unit into the rear of the store.

A devastating fire during the construction programme caused significant delays and painstaking repairs were undertaken in conjunction with specialist advice from a conservation expert. The final result was a fusion of modern open-plan retailing space with retained cellular upper floor spaces defined by original oak panelled walls and floors.

The project won a ‘Special Conservation’ award from Nottingham City Council after its successful opening.
