Harington School, Oakham
Harington School is a new sixth form free school associated with the highly successful Catmose College in Oakham. It offers places for 300 pupils with a focus on traditional core subjects in the arts, humanities and sciences.
The formal teaching spaces are wrapped around a flexible central library ‘heart’ space, which provides opportunities for formal and informal learning, events and assembly space. This arrangement eliminates the need for corridors, and provides a sophisticated environment in keeping with the maturity of the sixth form clientele. Externally, the building is sensitive to the materials palette from the adjacent college buildings, whilst establishing an individual identity of its own.
