Opus Energy HQ, Northampton
A rapidly-expanding energy company requires a new headquarters office building for 870 Northampton based employees. Used for call centre-type operations with a very high density of occupation at 6.46 square metre per person of gross floor area (5.57m2 nett).
The building uses high thermal mass, an efficient nvelope, solar shading and orientation strategies, plus a VRF system to ventilate and cool the office spaces, with additional fresh air provided to ensure comfort for staff.
Breakout space, training facilities, a café and focal entrance atrium that doubles as a meeting space also feature in the building’s design. A deck access car park to the rear has an additional deck to accommodate Photo Voltaic panels, offsetting the electrical usage of the building.
