Phoenix Building, Teesside University
Commissioned to design two buildings for the University of Teesside.
The Phoenix Building accommodates the Institute of Digital Innovation (IDI) and the Athena Building has been designed for the university’s Centre for Creative Technologies (CCT).
The buildings are part of Teesside’s ambitious Digital City project, which aims to generate new high-value media businesses by converting the university’s academic excellence into business creation and growth. The Phoenix Building was the vital first phase of the Digital City development in Middlesbrough.
A ‘hot house’ for ideas and intellectual property in the field of digital media, the building provides high quality accommodation for postgraduates and fellows, and studio space for local digital businesses.
