Radford Care Centre, Nottingham

Radford Care Group offers daytime activities for older people in Nottingham with extended facilities for the more frail elderly.  The tired old centre will be replaced with a new two storey building that will engage and support older people and local citizens now and into the future.  The new larger building allows them to support greater numbers of the local community in larger bespoke facility.

The building adopts a simple and legible arrangement in plan to ensure ease of use by users. On the ground floor are two main day care areas with direct access to a secure sensory garden, consulting room, hair salon, staff office, kitchen and wc facilities. The staircase is located adjacent to the main entrance for easy circulation and to allow independent access to the upper floor.

The first floor contains a double height flexible space for use as a training facility, a large meeting room, staff offices and service accommodation. The elevation uses a brick base with vertical timber cladding at first floor. A standing seam roof complements the rest of the palette helping to create a strikingly modern yet welcoming aesthetic.
