Radford Care Centre, Nottingham
Radford Care Group offers daytime activities for older people in Nottingham, with extended facilities for those more frail and elderly. The old centre will be replaced with a new two-storey building that will engage and support older people and local citizens well into the future. The new, larger and bespoke building will allow the centre to support more members of the local community.
The building will adopt a simple and legible arrangement to ensure ease and accessibility. On the ground floor are two main day care areas with direct access to a secure sensory garden, a consulting room, a hair salon, a staff office, a kitchen and toilet facilities. The staircase is located adjacent to the main entrance for easy circulation and to allow independent access to the upper floor.
The first floor contains a double height flexible space to be used as a training facility, a large meeting room, staff offices and service accommodation. The elevation uses a brick base with vertical timber cladding at first floor. A standing seam roof complements the rest of the palette helping to create a strikingly modern yet welcoming aesthetic.
