RNAS Yeovilton ATC

This £4.5m air traffic control facility is one of the largest in the country. Relocated from its original position to south of the main runway, the ATC now gives full view of the entire airfield, which the original did not enjoy. It contains all ancillary accommodation needed to maintain an important military establishment.

The main tower is located to maximise the height of the building within the restrictions that building on an airfield brings. The low level courtyard plan contains officer accommodation, briefing rooms, classrooms, approach control, welfare facilities (including overnight accommodation) and ground radio maintenance. The project was part of the South West Prime Contract led by Debut Services Ltd. CPMG Architects was one of the architectural consultants attached to this contract.
