South City Masterplan, Bratislava
This project was won in an international competition, and is a masterplan for a €120 m mixed-use development, situated between the southern extent of the Petrasalka district in Bratislava, Slovakia, and the Austrian and Hungarian borders. The client is Avestus, an international developer based in the Czech Republic.
The vision is that of a sustainable city for approximately 5,000 inhabitants. The first phase alone includes 1,500 apartments and 30,000 square metres of office space.
The residential buildings are located to the north of the site, adjacent to an existing residential development, whilst offices within the South City development are located to south: between the two is a new park with lakes, fountains and areas for sport and recreation.
The client for phase two of South City is Cresco Group, a Bratislava based developer working across central Europe. The design proposals build upon the work carried out in phase one and reflect the client’s aspiration for a sophisticated residential environment containing an eclectic mix of apartment sizes, all featuring balconies, terraces or other forms of private external spaces.
With a total area of approximately 150,000 square meters, the development features a landscaped boulevard housing mixed use facilities at ground floor level, such as a library, health centre and fitness suite that creates a commercial sustainability and sense of vitality to the streetscape, complemented by cafes, restaurants and shops.
This is a high quality landmark development providing first rate retail opportunities and exceptional spaces for living, all within a stunning parkland setting.
