Summer Leys Student Residential, Nottingham
Summer Leys is a high-profile eight-storey student accommodation development directly opposite the train station on the junction of Summer Leys Lane and Queen’s Road, to the south side of Nottingham city centre. The area sits in Nottingham City Council’s ‘Southside Regeneration Zone’.
The proposal is to create a block of student accommodation comprising of 215 self-contained studio bedrooms, with communal amenities on the ground floor including common room, function room, gymnasium, toilets, laundry room and cycle store.
The building will wrap around a private courtyard, providing landscaped amenity space for the student residents, accessed from a shared common room.
The external materials palette and detailing have been carefully considered, combining a grey terracotta rainscreen cladding on the street facades with timber cladding in the internal courtyard. The set-back penthouse accommodation will be constructed from curtain wall glazing and have external terrace areas. The south wing will have a range of larger, premium suites with their own private roof terraces.
