Rolls-Royce Turbine Surface Technologies, Sherwood Park
This manufacturing process plant is a joint venture between Rolls Royce and Chromalloy UK, and the most advanced of its kind in the world. It comprises 8,900 square metres of production areas, offices and laboratories for coating aero engine turbine blades.
Involved from the beginning of the project, developing the design to optimise the building and site configuration to suit the very specialised manufacturing processes taking place in the building. We liaised with the East Midlands Development Agency and Ashfield District Council over the design of the building and its surroundings and successfully obtained ‘Enterprise Zone’ approval . After tender we worked with the successful contractor (Bowmer & Kirkland) and subsequently produced working drawings to enable the project to be completed early and within budget.
