Water Sciences UKCRIC 1, Cranfield University
Water Sciences, UKCRIC 1, is the extension to the B52 Hall at Cranfield University providing a series of state of the art research facilities for the water sciences research programme. The building includes a three storey high entrance atrium, laboratories, associated meeting spaces and breakout areas with links through to the existing ziggurat research accommodation.
The UKCRIC 2 proposal is co-located with an existing facility and uses similar cladding to acknowledge the strong family resemblance. The building entrance element has a comfortable relationship with the existing building, and minimises intrusion towards the vehicle manoeuvring areas and existing site access bridge. The new linking element provides a simple, but welcoming, entrance area providing access into both halves of the facility.
