Chris ‘Stands-Up’ for Charity

Our own Chris White will be taking part in the Stand-Up Challenge, a fund-raising event for the Big Difference Company. Chris will be competing against seven other victims – volunteers – from the local business community.

“Preparations are going reasonably well,” said Chris, Project Director. “I’ve had my first training session and a draft of the routine is in place so I’m feeling as though things are heading in the right direction.”

In relation to why he would do such a thing, he said “It seemed like a good fit. When I was asked my first reaction was that I’d like to have a go. To be honest though I’ve been surprised at how much interest it’s generated; when I’m meeting up with people it’s almost the first thing we talk about and I think they’re genuinely supportive of what I’m challenging myself to do.”

There is a serious point, however. “The Big Difference Charity is a great cause, they use comedy to improve the lives of children and the elderly. In addition I’ve agreed that 25% of the money I raise will go to the British Lung Foundation. I lost my mum to lung disease in 2011 and I’ve always wanted to do something in her memory. I always used to be able to make mum laugh and this event seems somehow fitting.”
