Nottingham’s new fire station gets the green light

Full planning approval has been given for a new fire station in Nottingham.

Working with Turner & Townsend, delivering the project for Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service, creating a new, state-of-the-art fire station in London Road. The city’s current station in Shakespeare Street is being relocated to the new site – and will include the Emergency Response Department (EPD).

Aiden Bell the project architect said: “The relocation will provide a safe and firm response time to an emergency in the city centre, in addition to supporting the wider fire response network.”

The proposed form and building fabric will enhance the regeneration of the Southside, while maintaining the historical aesthetic of the site. The works will also regenerate a tired and dilapidated site, creating a sympathetically planned building encapsulating the requirements of a modern fire station with sustainable credentials.
