Teesside Library Phase II Completion

Students at Teesside University are reveling in the new collaborative learning environment we created in their library. The project completely reinvents the first floor in the existing building, providing a rich variety of group-working environments in a way which encourages innovative use and thinking. Book resources are still central, but are now housed in a motorised mobile shelving system to maximise the space available for learning activities. The interior has also been transformed by the introduction of large, full-height windows in each corner of the building, flooding the internal space with daylight and allowing fantastic views out over the campus.

The project is the second in a four-phase refurbishment of all floors, which will run over two more summers, for final completion in September 2018. We established an overarching masterplan for the full works with the University in 2012, and it is great to see a key stage realised.
