Preserving Listed Buildings and Strengthening the Education Sector
Hertfordshire County Council’s HQ is an important Grade 2* Listed building dating from the 1930s, We have secured Listed Building Consent for the retatement of its forecourt to the original design by James and Bywaters and Rowland Pierce. This is one of a series of projects where we are working with the St Albans office of Lambert Smith Hampton, further projects focus on assessing the development potential of parcels of land across Hertfordshire.
Building on the success of our designed schools in Croydon, Barking and Newham, We have won through competition 2 further secondary schools, this time under the Free School Programme.
Eden Park is a 1,680 pupil school in Beckenham and Harris Academy a 1,150 pupil school in Morden. The design solutions are very different, Eden Park being a 3 storey design on a relatively expansive site.
Harris Academy sits on a much more constrained site and hence is a much more intensive 5 storey solution with a second floor sports hall sitting over a covered outdoor recreation space
