Suthers School will bring 800 pupil places to Newark
Work will start on site in January 2019 for new secondary school and sixth form centre The Suthers School in Fernwood, Newark on Trent.
Newark and Sherwood District Council approved our designs for the Nova Education Trust’s three-storey school in June 2018, which will be built on Fernwood Business Park and set to complete by spring 2019.
At full capacity, the new building will accommodate 600 secondary students and 230 sixth form pupils. The 7,220 square metre building will have a traditional departmental structure focused around clustered hall spaces and centralised staff workrooms. Sports facilities for community use, staff pastoral offices, a distinct Student Support Suite and a combined library and sixth form will also be built.
We’re really proud to be working on another project with Bowmer and Kirkland, to develop a new school and sixth form centre with state-of-the-art facilities.Similar to our other successfully designed schools, we will be using Bowmer and Kirkland’s ‘Configure Standard Design’ framework, which will deliver an exemplary teaching environment fully aligned with the Education Skills Funding Agency’s aspirations.
Bowmer & Kirkland regional director, Steve Chambers, said: “We have worked in the education sector for many years, but it is always very satisfying to build a new school which will offer improved facilities and help raise aspirations for many young people.”
