Team Growth in Birmingham & Beyond

We are pleased to announce the appointment of an accomplished associate who will be helping to meet demand for client support needed from our Birmingham studio.

Derek said: “I am very excited to join CPMG and to be part of the practices’ vision, which involves further expansion in Birmingham, along with the Nottingham and London bases too. I’m naturally looking forward to being part of the team, consolidating existing client relationships and successfully delivering our projects, while also looking for new opportunities and securing more work.

“It is a particularly exciting time for Birmingham with the ‘Our Future City’ framework guiding us to 2040 – creating new opportunities and investment within the area. I am confident that we will be contributing to this vision.”

Joining director Anil Parmar in our Birmingham studio, Derek will be supporting with work spanning various industries but with a particular focus on healthcare, commercial, advanced manufacturing and industrial.

Derek’s arrival is a big step forward in our growth plan and we’re very pleased that he has chosen to progress his career with us. We continue to increase our presence in Birmingham and the wider West Midlands after 15 years working here, delivering quality buildings and places that make people feel better.

Given the pipeline of work we have, we’re looking for more architects and technicians to help expand further. In a hugely competitive environment, we believe we have a lot to offer aspirational professionals, not just exciting projects but also hybrid working and an unlimited holiday policy, and our recent recruitment success is testament to this belief.

In the surrounding area, CPMG has recently been appointed via Perfect Circle as architect on the Walsall, Guildhall project, the Grade II listed building is set to be revamped in order to become a Creative Industries Enterprise Centre. CPMG is also currently designing the George Betts School in Smethwick and New Oscott School in Sutton Coldfield.

Derek is not CPMG’s only evidence of recent growth. In Nottingham, Jonathan Nimer has arrived as a Part 2 architectural assistant at the practice’s national headquarters, and in the capital, Abissha Suthanthirakumaran has returned to the practice as a Part 2 architectural assistant.
