Project Overview
A cultural and entertainment anchor for Nottingham’s landmark regeneration. Canal Turn marks the £7.0m first phase of The Island Quarter, a major mixed-use regeneration masterplan on a former industrial site in Nottingham city centre.

The development creates a vibrant cultural, hospitality and entertainment destination, drawing new footfall and enabling 24-hour, year-round activity at the heart of the city.
Designed by Jestico + Whiles with CPMG acting as delivery architect, the canal-side scheme brings together food, drink, events and public realm in a landmark building that celebrates Nottingham’s waterside heritage.
Key features include:
- Binks Yard, an all-day venue with food, drinks, and live entertainment, offering indoor seating and over 40 outdoor canal-side seats
- A bandstand pavilion and landscaped plaza hosting informal and programmed live events
- Cleaver & Wake, a Michelin-fine dining restaurant on the upper floor
- A stunning event space for up to 200 guests with panoramic city views
- Enhancements to the adjacent Turnover Bridge heritage asset

Set within high-quality public realm, Canal Turn acts as a welcoming gateway to future phases of The Island Quarter. CPMG’s role has extended into ongoing phases, supporting both concept and detail design as the masterplan evolves.
