Project Overview

The first phase of The Island Quarter development; a major mixed-use regeneration masterplan on a large tract of land in Nottingham city centre.

Canal Turn is a vibrant cultural and entertainment destination drawing footfall to the site and to the city, driving 24-hour, year-round activity. Canal Turn provides food & beverage and events destinations in an iconic canal-side building, accompanied by improvements to the adjacent canal Turnover Bridge heritage asset. The building is set within an assembly of landscaped public realm and gathering spaces dedicated to hosting a variety of informal and programmed outdoor events.

At plaza level, Binks Yard provides an all-day food, drinks and entertainment venue with bar and restaurant seating inside and over 40 seats outside for canal side dining. The bandstand and plaza allow live and streamed events.

The upper floors provide a home for ‘Cleaver and Wake’ a fine dining restaurant and above a stunning function room for up to 200 guests offering panoramic views across the city.

The concept design is by Jestico + Whiles Architects, with CPMG supporting the contractor and developer in the detailed design and delivery phases.

CPMG’s role extends across further phases of the masterplan and encompass both concept and detail design.
