As autumn begins to creep in, September saw the anticipated return of our famous CPMG Charity Walk, which brought us together as a business to raise funds for CASY - a charity that agrees with us that all young people should have the support they need to help them through challenging times as they grow up.

In what was the eleventh installment of the annual challenge, the trek took place on Saturday 10 September, starting and finishing in the Derbyshire village of Baslow, taking a circular route of 32 miles and tackling more than 3,600 feet of ascent.

Those participating took in superb views of the Peak District as they walked through Curbar Edge, Eyam, Cressbrook Dale, Monsal Dale and Lathkill Dale, before returning to Baslow through the Chatsworth Estate.

While there were a few familiar faces from CPMG taking part, we were also joined by local businesses including Player Roberts Bell, collinshallgreen, and Chord Consult.

We had to put our annual charity walk on hold for the past two years due to the pandemic, which was disappointing for everyone within the business community that is forthcoming with their support year-on-year. This year, we were back bigger and better – though considering we originally set out to do this particular walk in 2020, we did have plenty of time to prepare! This resulted in no blisters and everyone crossing the finishing line as planned.

We’re very conscious of the importance of providing support to crucial services like CASY, and in recent times I think it’s fair to say that we all have a greater understanding of how important mental health support is. Supporting CASY and its valuable services with this year’s walk means we’re helping the expert team to continue supporting young people in our region, which is the most important thing above all else.

CASY provides a confidential counselling service to young people aged between six and 25 years old within Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. The charity is dedicated to working towards a vision in which all children and young people in the region have the best possible chance of a mentally and emotionally healthy future. All entry fees and sponsorship money raised for the walk will be donated to the charity to support its important activities.

It’s not too late to donate either. What better time to contribute than after the hard work has been done! Should you be able to spare a small sum, please feel free to do so online here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/cpmg-charitychallenge2020
