Our annual charity walk, newly named the Trek for Change, is set to return this July in aid of charitable organisation Nottingham Women’s Centre.

Scheduled to take place on Saturday 6 July, this year’s event will feature a 30-mile (48km) walk that starts at the Miner's Standard pub, above the village of Winster. The route follows a circular path that skirts the edge of Matlock, takes in the sights of Riber Castle, and descends into the Derwent River Valley, offering scenic views throughout.

Participants will then join the old railway incline on the High Peak Trail, which showcases the area's rich industrial heritage. The walk continues through Cromford Village before heading down to Carsington Village to admire views across Carsington Reservoir. As we circle back, we rejoin the High Peak Trail at Gotham, follow Long Dale and Grattan Dale to Dale End, and finish with a well-earned drink back at the Miner's Standard.

This year will also see the return of our mobile tuck shop, with food, drink and medical supplies available for walkers. Checkpoints will be set up along the route, with several supporters expected to attend.

Nick Gregory, Director at CPMG said: “Every year our charity walk is one of the most anticipated events in our calendar. It’s brilliant and incredibly satisfying how many people come together from across the industry and set out to test their hiking skills and endurance, in support of a worthy cause.

“We’re hoping this year is no different as we aim to raise as much as possible for Nottingham Women’s Centre, which is such a vital service for women in the East Midlands.”

Founded in 1971, the Nottingham Women’s Centre (NWC) aims to support women to reach their full potential. Working collaboratively with other local women's crisis and violence reduction services, NWC offers a range of services across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire for women with mental health needs, women offenders, women who are seeking asylum, facing extreme poverty, escaping abuse or women simply wanting to make a change in their lives.

Since 1985, the charity has resided on Chaucer Street in Nottingham city centre, which is just a short walk away from our Nottingham HQ. The centre offers a safe and friendly space to meet and includes an available library for upskilling.

Vandna Gohil, chief executive officer at Nottingham’s Women Centre said: "Nottingham Women's Centre has been providing a safe space for women to grow, be heard, and achieve their potential for over 50 years - something that is only possible through the support of our wider community.

“We’re excited to have been chosen as the charity for this year’s CPMG charity walk. Any funds raised will help us continue to provide the women of Nottingham and surrounding areas with what they need to live safe and happy lives, free from injustice and inequality. We’re grateful for everyone who is taking part, supporting and donating.”
