Project Overview

Peterborough is now home to a wonderful new headquarters office building for British Sugar and its associated businesses.

The building is designed so that the individual businesses can express their own identities, whilst still identifying with a company-wide ethos within a collaborative and thoroughly modern and well-being focused working environment.

The building is the winner of the BCO Midlands Corporate Workplace of the Year Award 2020. The BCO judging panel highlighted the impressive variety of facilities - including an excellent on-site café - that allow for the movement and interaction of employees within a building that delights and surprises at every corner.

Providing space for 300 employees, the building includes training and conferencing facilities, a coffee bar and separate café plus various types of meeting spaces and collaborative working areas all grouped around a focal atrium space.

The building is a vehicle for improving staff well-being, achieving organisational change, modernising working practices and engaging staff with the strategy for the future of the business.

Daylight and flexibility of working environments are key design drivers informing solutions such as the large atrium and over 400 glass external louvres fitted to the external elevations that track the sun and control the level of internal light without obstructing views. CPMG worked with Morey Smith on the design of the internal office fit out.
