Project Overview

An innovation hub driving the future of sustainable manufacturing The Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Advanced Manufacturing (CESAM) is a pioneering £12.5m project led by the North East Automotive Alliance, in collaboration with leading industry partners and universities.

Located on the International Advanced Manufacturing Park in Sunderland, the facility incorporates a two-storey innovation centre with offices, classrooms, laboratories, meeting rooms, café, and event space linked to c.100,00sqft of flexible production space.

Located at the International Advanced Manufacturing Park (IAMP) in Sunderland, CESAM is designed to position the North East at the cutting edge of advanced manufacturing, productivity, and innovation.

The new facility includes:

  • A two-storey innovation centre with offices, classrooms, laboratories, meeting spaces, café, and event space
  • Approx. 100,000 sqft of flexible production space for trialling and scaling technologies

CESAM’s mission is to act as a catalyst for transforming manufacturing productivity across the region. It directly supports companies, supply chains, and customers in overcoming the barriers to adopting digital and advanced manufacturing technologies.
