Project Overview
New Oscott Primary School is designed to accommodate 630 primary pupils aged 4–11, along with 58 nursery places at full capacity. The new building provides a modern, flexible learning environment that supports a broad curriculum and reflects the school’s ambition to serve both its pupils and the wider community.
Supporting community use
In addition to core education provision, the school is committed to opening its facilities for wider community benefit. The building has been planned to allow simple, secure zoning for out‑of‑hours access to key internal spaces, including the Main Hall, Activity Studio, Music and Drama space, associated WCs and storage. This approach enables a range of third‑party activities while maintaining clear separation from teaching areas.
Flexible external facilities
Externally, the school will be able to offer community access to the sports pitches and MUGA, supported by an independently accessible WC. While the facilities are designed for daytime and early evening use, there are no proposals for floodlighting, ensuring the site remains sensitive to its residential context.
A calm, robust and future‑focused design
The architectural approach prioritises clarity, accessibility and long‑term durability. The building’s layout supports intuitive movement for pupils and visitors, while a resilient material palette ensures the school will perform effectively over time. The result is a welcoming, adaptable environment that supports high‑quality learning and meaningful community engagement.
