Soldier Centre, Alexander Barracks
Pirbright Camp is located near the village of Brookwood. The Army Training Centre Pirbright (ATCP), based within the camp, delivers Non-Infantry Phase One Training for the British Army.
CPMG collaborated with Henry Brothers to deliver the Soldier Centre, a purpose-designed, centralised hub for recruit welfare facilities, replacing those previously dispersed across multiple buildings at Alexander Barracks. By bringing these facilities together within a single building, the objective is to maximise their use and accessibility, thereby supporting enhanced wellbeing for recruits.
A key design driver was the need to accommodate recruits, visitors, and families during Passing Out Parade days. At these significant moments, the building plays an important role in shaping perceptions of Army life and reassuring parents that recruits are entering an organisation that cares.
