Concept & vision
In establishing this new hub for postgraduate education, our vision was to create a flexible, future‑ready interior that fosters collaboration, critical thinking and industry relevance. Rather than a conventional lecture‑block environment, the design promotes hybrid learning and agile working, supporting DMU London’s ambition to equip its students for leadership in a global, data‑driven and sustainability‑focused world.
Spatial composition
The fit‑out includes a mix of spaces calibrated for performance, flexibility and interaction:
- Hybrid teaching rooms - reconfigurable and technology‑enabled for formal exhibitions, workshops or interactive sessions.
- Agile working areas - open‑plan and semi‑private zones that support student group work, independent study, and hybrid / remote collaboration.
- Dedicated study spaces - comfortable and quiet zones for focused learning, complemented by group‑study rooms and breakout niches.
- Learning Resource Centre - a discrete hub for digital and print resources, enabling research and reflection.
- Staff & meeting rooms - fully integrated into the floor plate to support the academic and administrative community.
- Large flexible event space - a versatile venue capable of hosting talks, receptions, exhibitions and network events reflecting DMU London’s external engagement ambitions.
- Central social hub with café area - a visible and welcoming heart to the floor, promoting chance encounters and community‑building across cohorts.
Impact & outcomes
The AMP provides DMU London’s postgraduate students with a modern, professional environment that elevates learning and reflects the institution’s global ambitions. The mixture of agile and formal spaces supports emerging teaching modes and student working styles, while the social hub fosters community, networking and the kind of informal learning that defines contemporary higher education. The project strengthens DMU London’s presence in a high‑profile London location and positions the campus as a destination for ambitious postgraduate study.
