A simple masonry building forms the base for the main support services, including the Radio Room, Approach Control Room, officers’ offices, and welfare facilities.
The design of the Visual Control Room (VCR) provides controllers with a completely uninterrupted 250-degree view, offering visibility of up to 15km across the fens of Lincolnshire, as well as full sight of all taxiways and the main runway. This was achieved through the use of the largest cantilevered roof designed by Tex ATC. An excellent interface between all parties ensured a high level of communication throughout the project, contributing to its successful completion on time and on budget.
