The Air Traffic Control facility at RNAS Yeovilton is one of the largest ATC facilities in the country.
Relocated from its original position to the south of the main runway, the building provides a full view of the entire airfield and incorporates all the ancillary accommodation required to support an important military establishment of this scale.
The main tower is positioned to maximise the building’s height within the restrictions associated with constructing on an operational airfield, where increased height enables improved visibility across the airfield.
Low-level elements adjoining the tower are arranged in a courtyard format and accommodate officer facilities, briefing rooms, classrooms, approach control, and welfare facilities, including overnight accommodation.
